3 months agoI drove by Coco Jim's Cafe and smelled the smoker and then later on the way back by I smelled it again and stopped as it made my mouth water it smelled so good. I was greeted by an offer of free minestrone which was the best island soup I have had here. He made me a lemonade, similarly excellent. I had to leave and run errands but returned for an order of that chicken to go. Later at home for dinner I discovered a slaw of perfect proportion and broad cut like I like it.The potato salad was some of the best I have had, rich, spiced perfectly. The chicken is hard to describe it is cut in bite size pieces and had a dark smoky island spice flavor, maybe the best I have ever had. It was my last day or else I would have returned as he told me that if I called ahead I could order his steak dinner which I suspect would also have been similarly excellent. The drinks he makes are outstanding, I had a punch which he mixed with fruit in a blender and it was so good I ordered another one while I waited for the chicken.

4 months agoWe love Jim! The chicken here was wonderful, and the free minestrone soup was a delight. The potato salad and coleslaw that came with our meal was some of the best we've had anywhere. Jim was so kind and provided the best service we found anywhere on the island. Definitely make a trip to Coco Jim's while on St. John!

5 months agoThis place is awesome! Jim is a super nice guy. I had the lobster roll and it was amazing. Perfect lobster sauce on top and you get a lot of lobster 🦞 plus it came with great potato salad and a bowl of his minestrone which was also amazing. Highly recommend.

5 months agoCoco Jim’s was the epitome of experiencing St. John’s The food was impeccable, tender chicken platter with potato salad and coleslaw The chili was fantastic The dogs were so cute they might bark at first but they’re so friendly. Loved this experience and thank you Jim for being so good to us!

6 months agoThe smoked chicken was the best food we had in our 7 days on St John. We will be coming back multiple times on our next trip. The potato salad and chili are also can’t miss. The owner is also a joy to talk to.

9 months agoGood food good good drinks and good vibes, what more could you hope for. I had the chicken plate, smoked chicken, potatoes, and cold slaw. Everything was excellent! Also had one of the best pina coladas I've ever had. So yeah I highly recommend if your ever in St John stop by and see Jim!

a year agoJim was super inviting and showed great hospitality! The smoked chicken dish (attached) was phenomenal, and the complimentary chili that he served was not only a great gesture, but also hit the spot! We had a great chat with Jim after our meal, and he was super knowledgeable on a wide variety of island history and other global events--- it was a valuable conversation worth having as we found our time dining and chatting with him as a very worthwhile experience. Highly recommend visiting Coco Jim's while in St. John!

2 years agoWe ended up at Coco Jim's twice during our week stay on the island. Perfect late lunch after a day in Coral Bay or the North Shore Beaches. The smoked chicken is phenomenal. The smoothies and frozen drinks are top notch. We also had a lobster roll, hamburger and hotdog. But the atmosphere is really made by Jim, the proprietor, who welcomes you with a fun spirit and - later in the day - you might also enjoy chili chock full of beans. You will need no more fiber for the day. Jim has really made his space beautiful, in a place where one not expect it. And it is further enhanced with a motley crew of sweet animals who are curious but, not at all bothersome. We saw roosters, a female peacock, a sweet and adoring cat, and a wonderful dog.
